New Mills under the Hammer is a local fundraising auction of promises and gifts donated by the New Mills Community. The event is organised by One World Festival and New Mills Women's Group, with all proceeds going directly to both.
One World Festival is in its 25th Year and will be held on Saturday 4th July at High Lea Park, New Mills from midday. The theme this year is Live, Work, Play, New Mills. Festival proceeds from the Auction will go towards ensuring the Festival continues to be an iconic part of the New Mills Festival calendar. New Mills Women’s Group is a community group who meet weekly to support women from New Mills and the surrounding areas. The group gives women the opportunity to spend some child-free time working together on a variety of charitable, fundraising and community projects. Our work helps our members to build their confidence and learn new skills. The group also provides access to training and skills acquisition as well as advice on health, practical life skills and other areas. All this would not be possible without the provision of a crèche run by First Steps Nursery within the centre. New Mills Women's Group proceeds will go directly to funding crèche provision, ensuring that the group can continue to provide the support and opportunities for its members.
